After deciding to skip my first lecture on Wednesday, I reluctantly got out of bed and went to Landeskunde. Our lecturer was in Cologne, so instead we we going on a tour of the Altstadt. As we were going around, we went off to this little square behind the Hauptstrasse and we were stood there for about 15/20 mins. Our tour guide was talking about some important time for Heidelberg, I think something about an ape on the bridge and I stared to feel weird. I felt really hot and I was feeling nauseous. All of a sudden, I started stumbling around and then my vision blacked out. I couldn't see a thing and I just kept hearing people calling my name. I almost fainted which was so scary. Someone from the Akademisches Auslands Amt grabbed me to stop me falling over and then led me to somewhere where I could sit down. It was horrible, cos I couldn't explain what was wrong cos I couldn't think of the German words! Note to self:learn more vocab! Afterwards I felt more or less ok, but I had a really bad headache. I carried on going round the altstadt afterwards and I seemed to be ok. It was so embarrassing though. ALL of the erasmus students were there and saw me stumbling about looking like I was drunk. It was also really scary too. I almost fainted and I couldn't see anything for about a minute. What's wrong with me
I can't even go and see a doctor, cos I don't have one in Germany, so I'd have to go back to Manchester and that's not something that I really want to do unless absolutely necessary. I can't even talk to my parents about it, cos they'd get all worried and my mum would probably want to come over. I suppose this isn't the best time not to be insured! I mean, I've got the European health card, but that's it. I chose not to get German medical insurance, cos I thought I wouldn't need it. I haven't been to the doctors in like the past 10 years for anything other than injections and I've never had to go into hospital. It's just typical that something like this happens to me whilst I'm in Germany.
Let's just hope it doesn't happen again.
Bye
